Are these before and after photos wildly satisfying for you to look at? Are you seeking an opportunity to get your hands dirty this summer on a regular basis? Do you already have a job, but really just want to get outside and work with plants for a little bit? Then you might be the perfect person for our new Workshare Volunteer position!

Workshare Volunteer
Tuesdays - Seasonal - early May to end of September (exact dates TBD)

Boundless Farmstead’s mission is to grow and cultivate healthy plants, animals, and community, and to form creative and sustainable practices by observing, listening, and studying. We care deeply about the environment, about our family, about our lasting impacts, about our underserved neighbors, and about our community as a whole. We hope to gather a team of people who are welcoming, open-minded, caring, and willing to put in the work (on the farm, in community, and with self).

Please read through our website and get acquainted with our farm and farm practices.

Description
  • One 4 hour shift per week
  • Must be available to work Tuesdays (9am to 1pm, or 8am to 12pm, depending on group consensus)
  • Volunteers are allowed and encouraged to take home the equivalent of one family’s worth of vegetables per week.

Primary Tasks
The primary responsibilities of the Workshare Volunteer will be maintaining our Medicinal Herb Garden. This will include, but is not limited to spreading bark chips, weeding, planting, harvesting, drying, etc.

Qualifications
We are looking for anyone who is committed to coming weekly and has a love for the outdoors! We are looking for someone that can work alone or with a small team, can lift 40lbs over and over, and someone who can work standing or while on their knees for prolonged periods.

We do not require any experience, but do require that you are able to take care of your body and physical needs as an individual by dressing properly, hydrating, practicing good ergonomics, taking breaks as needed, and having adequate caloric intake. We also require that you are able to take care of your emotional and mental needs as individuals by communicating with David and Megan. Once the season begins, we are all in this together!

Other qualifications include:
  • Ability to commit to the entire growing season with very few days missed
  • A strong attention to detail
  • Reliable transportation to and from the farm
  • Ability to be flexible as things change rapidly on the farm due to weather, heat, and other external factors

To Apply
Please email the following to [email protected]
A cover letter answering the following questions-
  • Why do you think a Workshare Volunteer position at Boundless would be a good fit for you?
  • Are you able to commit to one 4 hour shift a week May through September (we ask that you please do not take more than 3 shifts off throughout the season)? Do you have any vacations planned or foresee any issues?
  • Anything else you want to tell us about yourself! We are happy to receive cover letters longer than the standard “one page.” We’d love to learn as much about you as you’d like to share!

*Note- Unfortunately, we cannot have children join Workshare Volunteers. We have two herding dogs that do not get along well with young children. Thank you for your understanding!
